FISH is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, 100% staffed by VOLUNTEERS
who help people in our community. As a volunteer you decide when and
how much time you can give.
individuals to return calls and help individuals/families in need 2
days a month, 4 1/2 hours a day. You will speak with callers to assess
their needs to see if they are eligible for FISH assistance and/or give
them referrals to other agencies that may help. You will be trained in
procedures and minimal computer database updating. You will be
responsible for answering phones, scheduling clients for food and
client reviews, and filing.
people to assist clients with shopping, explaining how the pantry works
(limits on food, checking to see if the Pantry report has the current
information about our clients, giving a tour if they are new, etc.),
bagging their groceries and possibly stocking shelves when slow (no
heavy lifting involved).
Time involved would be every other week for 2 hours per day with another partner and you pick the day that works for
Service hours are available on the 2nd Saturday of every
month (except the month of July) from 10am to noon. No need to call,
just come and be ready for whatever...
a couple hours to volunteer? We are always looking for Tuesdays and
Thursdays of every month (Unless it is a holiday or LO/OX Schools are
closed) from 9am to 11am to stock shelves. Also on the second Saturday from 10am to noon. Easy, fun, no heavy lifting
required and any age can come and do it...
you are trained you would be put on a list for our regular volunteers
to call if they are sick, on vacation or just can't do the day they are
scheduled. You work when it fits into your schedule
